This weekend – my family is coming in town – yay!  It will be a lot of fun ~ but we are also attending a gala to raise money for the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America (or for short, CCFA).  My husband, my brother and my cousin have Crohn’s disease, and so it is very personal to me.  I realize that many of you are likely not familiar with Crohn’s or Colitis and for more information, you can visit this link, which describes the diseases.  Generally, Crohn’s disease is a chronic inflammation condition of the gastrointestinal tract.  But, Crohn’s impacts every patient differently.  Some patients are able to control their symptoms through medication and some have a much more difficult time.  Some patients unfortunately have to have very painful and involved surgical procedures.  There is no cure, but research is bringing us closer and closer to developing more effective medications with less intense side effects and ultimately, we hope, a cure.  Events such as the gala that we are attending this weekend are extremely important because they raise both awareness and even more importantly, money to support additional research that will hopefully one day bring us to a cure for these terrible, lifelong diseases.  I mention it only because I know there are many people that aren’t familiar with Crohn’s or Colitis and raising awareness is one important step that I can take.  Thank you for listening/reading!

And on a much less serious note, here are some links that I have been loving this week:

I made these chocolate brownie cookies today and they are so easy and good.  Highly recommend!
