Now that we’ve all had a few days to detox from our holiday parties, I wanted to share the menu from our New Year’s Eve cocktail party, along with some pictures.
On the Menu:
Beef Tenderloin with Horseradish Sauce
Lamb Meatballs with Tzatziki Sauce
Spinach and Feta Puff Pastry Swirls
Homemade Pigs in a Blanket
Smoked Trout Dip
Crudites with Horseradish Hummus
Cheese Plate with Strawberry and Fig Jams
Dates Wrapped with Prosciutto and Honey
Spicy Buffalo Chicken Dip
I wanted to have everything done ahead of time so that I could enjoy the party with my friends. While the Martha Stewart wanna-be in me wanted to make every single thing, it just wasn’t feasible to do that. So, I picked a few things that I would buy, I made a lot and my very generous friends brought some spectacular dishes to the party, including the dates and the buffalo chicken dip. My friends also brought some lovely desserts that I really wish I had pictures of ~ including delicious thumbprint cookies, a spectacular fruit plate and treats from Alon’s, a local bakery.
I highly recommend the lamb meatball recipe that I used from Food52 ~ we actually had them for dinner one night when I was testing out the recipe alongside a big salad. The pigs in a blanket were homemade and I will share the recipe at some point soon. You can make those ahead of time and freeze them, which is very helpful for party planning.
The main thing that I “cheated” on was the beef tenderloin ~ I ordered it from a local caterer. Alongside the tenderloin, I served these awesome silver dollar rolls that I found at Publix ~ they are perfect for making mini steak sandwiches. At the end of the day, it was delicious and it saved me a lot of time. Who knows…maybe I’ll make it next year 🙂
We also gave out party favors ~ a mini bottle of champagne and orange juice for New Year’s Day mimosas, along with Triple Chocolate Mini Muffins. I have to credit my husband with this idea!
It was such a great night ~ I was sad when it was over, but there is always next year 🙂 Happy New Year everybody!
