This past weekend, we took a little trip to Ellijay in Northeast Georgia with some of our friends. On Saturday morning, we all got up and took a group trip to pick some apples. It was my first time doing it and definitely a good time. The mountain air was crisp, the leaves were changing and it was great to just be with friends.
There are a ton of apple orchards in the area, but we visited B.J. Reese Orchards. You pay a $2 fee for admission to the orchard and then another small fee depending on the size of the bag that you’d like to put your apples in. They have all kinds of apples and to be quite honest, I’m not sure which ones we ended up with!
In addition to apples, they have a number of other goods in their store, including apple cider, jams and jellies, local honey, baked goods (ever heard of a fried apple pie?), boiled peanuts and the list goes on. We walked away with some delicious apples, which I’ll be doing some cooking with this week.
