a gorgeous sunflower
On a recent rainy and cloudy Saturday, I stopped by the Peachtree Road Farmer’s Market to start my foray into what the Atlanta farmer’s market scene has to offer. While not on the scale of the Union Square or Charleston farmer’s markets, there was a nice variety of local produce, baked goods and other treats to choose from. It is definitely a great option if you live in Atlanta. The smaller size also makes it easier to navigate, which is a plus. And, if you are hungry when you arrive, there are plenty of snacks to choose from, including Souper Jenny, Holeman and Finch Bread Company, Farm Burger and other local treats. Another great thing to note ~ if you are entertaining on Saturday night and don’t feel like cooking much, you could definitely pick up a few treats to help you out!
Here are some highlights from my day:
lots of sunflowers
gorgeous baby sweet peppers
local pickles from DouxSouth
baby d’avignon radishes
baby hakurei turnips
Surprise! Sam Talbot from Top Chef was there signing books and teaching kids about produce
lovely fall colors
sunchokes…a vegetable i’ve been meaning to try out
greens, reds, purples
yellow squash and brilliant red radishes
The Spotted Trotter
H&F Bread Co.
The Little Tart Bakeshop
petite purple eggplant
Check out the Peachtree Road Farmers Market on Saturday mornings from 9 – 12 through December 14. Maybe I’ll see you there?
